Frank Grillo & Scott Adkins Have Plenty More Action Fare in the Pipeline

After dominating the B-movie action genre for many years, Scott Adkins is finally getting some mainstream recognition following his scene-stealing performance as Killa Harkan in last year’s action sequel hit, John Wick: Chapter 4. Following roles in the likes of Netflix’s Day Shift, Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday, One More Shot, and Lights Out, Adkins will soon join forces with Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista for The Killer’s Game.

Directed by J. J. Perry and written by Rand Ravich and Simon Kinberg, The Killer’s Game will star Ben Kingsley, Sofia Boutella, Ice Cube, and Pom Klementieff alongside Adkins and Bautista, and finds a veteran assassin fighting for his life when he places a hit on himself after receiving a terminal medical diagnosis. A diagnosis that turns out to be incorrect.

Lights Out, meanwhile, is just one of several action projects on the cards for Frank Grillo. The actor is due to join Harvey Keitel, Peter Stormare, and Tyrese Gibson in the action thriller Hard Matter, which centers on a power-hungry corporation that takes over the conventional prison system and makes criminals the new law enforcers.

Grillo is also expected to return to The Purge franchise as Leo Barnes. Grillo has wanted to return to the horror (which includes a lot of action) franchise since last appearing in The Purge: Election Year back in 2016. Director James DeMonaco recently teased his plans for The Purge 6, revealing that it will take place in a “broken America.”

“So for me for 6, I was extrapolating on the discord and taking it to its furthest, as far as you can take that idea of what’s going on, I feel, in the country and the political landscape. And it’s a broken America. We’re remapping. [‘The Purge 6’] is about the remapping of America based on ideology, sexuality and religion, so that the states are broken down. You have your Black state, you have your gay state, you have your white evangelical state. And it’s really a broken country.”

Lights Out is scheduled to be released intheaters, on digital, and on demand on February 16.
